NBA’s No. 1 Overall Pick a Big Fan of FIBA 3x3

FIBA 3x3 basketball will debut as an Olympic sport in 2021

Last month, 3x360 LLC, one of the nation’s largest licensees of the iconic Hoop It Up 3x3 (3-on-3) basketball event series, was excited to announce that Hoop It Up and its parent company, Big Ticket Sports LLC, had reached a sanctioning agreement with FIBA (International Basketball Federation) that included an automatic berth for certain Hoop It Up champions to compete in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters, which features the best 3x3 teams in the World.

In addition, players and teams formally registered for the Hoop It Up Pro-Am will earn FIBA 3x3 ranking points based on participation and record, which allows U.S. and Canadian players alike to climb the FIBA 3x3 Federation Rankings and qualify for the FIBA 3x3 World Cup and Olympic Games.

The NBA’s 1995 No. 1 overall draft pick and former University of Maryland star, Joe Smith, recently sat down with the Black News Channel (BNC) ahead of the Hoop It Up Juneteenth 3x3 Jamboree in Atlanta to talk FIBA 3x3 and the excitement around Hoop It Up.

“3x3 [3-on-3] is probably the best way to learn how to play the game of basketball,” said the NBA’s former No. 1 overall pick, Joe Smith. “I’m just glad to see it [Hoop It Up] coming back and that one of my former guys, one of my former teammates, Kevin Garnett, is a part of it and behind it. It’s huge for the game of basketball.”
